1556 Shaanxi Earthquake
This was the deadliest earthquake of all history. On January23, 1556, more than 830,000 people died, this earthquake reduced the population of Shaanxi and Shanxi by 60%! This earthquake had a magnitude of about 8 in the Richter Scale, crumbling almost all the buildings in those provinces. This taught the Chinese to prepare for future earthquakes. Though lasting less than a minute, this earthquake changed the landscape of the provinces. The buildings were crumbled, roads destroyed, and rivers' paths were changed. You wouldn't want to be there when it happened.
